Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) Trips

[ SUP PHOTO GALLERY | SUP Instruction ]

What's SUP?!

Stand-Up Paddleboarding, or SUP for short, is a growing sport among river enthusiasts and water lovers alike. What started in the Pacific Islands as a way of travel has come to the rivers of Washington State, and it's growing in popularity amongst people of all ages. Paddleboards are a longer and wider version of an ocean surfboard, and users maneuver the board through the water using a paddle that is similar to a rafting paddle, only longer. Some enjoy calm and peaceful floats while others use them to surf large waves in whitewater areas. Give us a call to try out stand-up paddleboarding for the first time, or to get your next paddleboarding fix.

Alpine Adventures' Guided Stand-Up Paddleboarding Trips are meant for people of all experience levels including first-timers and those who have previously paddleboarded. We start with the basic building blocks and use innovative progressions to ensure that students are comfortable. We put together a custom learning package to meet the student's individual needs. With a ratio of 1 guide/instructor to no more than 5 students, everyone is sure to get adequate attention and the training needed to enjoy the experience.

Trips begin with a brief review of paddleboarding equipment and basics, followed by group and 1-on-1 instruction time on the calm and winding Icicle Creek. By the time you reach the confluence with the mighty Wenatchee River, you'll have a chance to practice what you've learned while paddling around the old partially-sunken logging structures and watching the wildlife around Blackbird Island before ending at Leavenworth Waterfront Park.

Each student will learn basic river safety, how to read the water, paddleboarding equipment care, how to get on the board, how to stand-up and balance while standing, correct paddling techniques, how to make basic paddleboarding maneuvers, and information on the area and natural surroundings. All SUP trips include: stand-up paddleboard, paddle, personal flotation device (PFD), shuttle, and an experienced stand-up paddleboard instructor/guide.
